CERAMIC ASSISTANT 2 – PRODUCTION (Plates, Platters, Planters and Bowls)
REPORTS TO THE: PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR
RESPONSIBLE FOR:

Receiving slabs from the slab rollers.

Assess clay quality (not too wet nor too dry), and checks for any impurities.

Give feedback to the Supervisor if necessary, particularly if you are waiting for slabs (record how many minutes you waited on the Job Card)*

Follows the Job Card in Sales Order Due Date/Priority sequence. NB: Check profile (Standard or Thin).

Selects the correct template/mould for the relevant product. Handles templates and moulds with care ensuring that they are cleaned properly before returning them to storage.

Makes the required quantity, ensuring quality compliance for every item.

Paints edges with ceramic glue to prevent cracking if necessary.

Records the produced quantity on the Job Card.*

Places products on a on a drying shelf.

Repeats steps 6 through 9 until the required quantity is reached.

Proceeds with the next job as determined by the Job Card or Supervisor.

Keeps a check on the template/mould’s condition, and reports any faults to the Supervisor.

Reports any equipment problems to the Supervisor immediately.

Works to target speeds at all times.

Keeps work station clean and tidy (5 S).

Removes all cracked items(record breakages on the Job Card)* when they are dry enough for fettling and transfers items to the fettling shelves.

Disposes the cracked items in the appropriate recycling bag.

Reports when assigned tasks have been completed to the Supervisor to receive additional tasks or to be re-assigned to help in other departments.

Performs any other task as instructed by the Supervisor or Manager(s).

Adds value by embracing new skills as and when required by the Company.
